Drake Shouts out Grizzlies' Ja Morant on 'Dog House' Single Ahead of 'Iceman' Album
While the music world anticipates which celebrities and fellow rappers are going to get mentioned in Drake's upcoming Iceman album, Memphis Grizzlies fans didn't have to wait long to hear a line about their team's point guard.
Drake released the song "Dog House" on Tuesday, and it includes the lyric "Jump like Ja Morant, she 'bout to jump, 'bout to jump."
The lyric comes after some fans believe the rapper dissed Morant on his 2024 song "Push Ups."
Drake is an avid NBA fan and is often seen courtside at Toronto Raptors games, so it isn't surprising to hear him reference players in his songs.
Trace William Cowen of Complex noted the latest single, which features Yeat and Julia Wolf, will be part of the Iceman album that is "widely expected to be a 2025 release."
As for Morant, the 2025-26 season will be his seventh in the NBA since he was the No. 2 overall pick of the 2019 draft. He will be facing some pressure to bounce back as the franchise cornerstone of the Grizzlies after injuries and suspensions limited his impact in recent years.
Morant played 50 games last season after appearing in just nine in 2023-24. The last time he played more than 63 games was his rookie season, and the Grizzlies have won just one playoff series during his career.
Changing those postseason struggles will be easier said than done in the daunting Western Conference, but having Morant healthy and available will be an ideal starting point for Memphis.
