Nondrinker Harrison Barnes Reveals Steve Kerr Gave Him Tequila After Finals

Kyle NewportJul 16, 2015

After abstaining from alcohol for the first 23 years of his life, Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes finally got a taste of it after his team won the 2015 NBA Finals this summer.

It doesn't sound like he's going to make drinking a habit.

Barnes made it known during the Finals that he had decided he would not have even a sip of alcohol until he won a championship. That way, the NBA player could just say it was the taste of victory.

Barnes recently admitted in an interview on The Morning Rush on 1460 KXNO out of Des Moines, Iowa, that he wasn't a fan of alcohol, specifically tequila. The Iowa native revealed Warriors coach Steve Kerr handed him a shot of tequila once the team got back to its hotel—and that it didn't go well.

Note: The alcohol-related questions come near the end of the interview.

If Barnes ever drinks alcohol again, it will probably only be while celebrating an NBA championship.
