Nick Sirianni Says Eagles Players Won't Be on Field for Super Bowl 59 Banner Ceremony
Philadelphia Eagles players will not be on the field when the Super Bowl LIX banner is raised before Thursday's season-opening game against the Dallas Cowboys, coach Nick Sirianni said during Tuesday's press conference.
"I didn't know it was banner night. We won't be out for that," Sirianni told reporters.
The banner ceremony is set to take place before the NFC East rivals kick off the 2025 season at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sirianni has made it clear to his team throughout the offseason that he wants his players focused on the 2025 season, not their success from 2024.
Tight end Dallas Goedert said during a June appearance on RG NFL Weekly that Sirianni "wishes they would drop the banner today, and then we wouldn't have to worry about it ever again, because he doesn't want us thinking about last year."
Offensive tackle Jordan Mailata recently told reporters that, while Sirianni was addressing the team, players had been shown the team an image of a car driving with the Super Bowl in the rear-view mirror as a visualization of where their focus needed to be.
Mailata went on to say he considered the banner-raising ceremony a similar "test" to his team's focus as the ring ceremony the Eagles held in July, which took place days before training camp started in late July.
"It's another opportunity for us to test our focus, if you think about it," Mailata said about the banner raising (h/t 94WIP's Devan Kaney). "We've lived about this mantra for the last three, four months, about 'We're pushing on, we're moving on'... How fast can we re-lock, or can we just block it out entirely?"
Mailata then joked that he would be "staring at the ground" as the banner is raised to the rafters of the Linc.
The Eagles last unveiled a championship banner in a September 2018 event that featured a giant replica of the Lombardi trophy.
During the previous ceremony, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins joined a group of fans on the field while the banner was raised.
The Eagles, then coached by Doug Pederson, went on to win the 2018 season opener over the Atlanta Falcons but were ultimately bounced from the divisional round of the playoffs.
Sirianni will hope working to keep his players focused on the upcoming season will help him achieve a different outcome this postseason.
