Lakers' LeBron James Reveals His Favorite Movies in Letterboxd Video with Kevin Hart
Having dabbled in acting during his NBA career, LeBron James has shed some light on his taste in movies.
In a video for Letterboxd, James cited Goodfellas, Coming to America, Gladiator and the first two Godfather films as his favorites.
Kevin Hart, who also appeared in the video with James, took a more humorous approach to his list by picking movies he has starred in, including Soul Plane, Paper Soldiers, Think Like a Man and both Ride Along films.
Even though Letterboxd typically asks for four favorites, James did cheat a bit by lumping The Godfather and The Godfather Part II together. However, since picking between the two is a virtually impossible task, he can be forgiven for not wanting to separate the two.
One notable thing about the list is James has changed it slightly from the last time he mentioned his favorite films. During a Q&A on X in 2022, the four-time NBA MVP had Friday and Wedding Crashers in his top five instead of Goodfellas and The Godfather Part II.
We can take away from the lists that Gladiator, Coming to America and The Godfather are definitively James' three favorite films, and the next two can change depending on the mood he is in.
If you want to watch a comedy to get away from the realities of the world, Friday or Wedding Crashers are right there. If you want to watch a story about the rise and fall of the mafia that doubles as an examination of what it takes to make it in America from arguably the greatest filmmaker of all-time, Goodfellas is one of the most rewatchable movies ever made.
James has plenty of experience in the world of movies. He starred in Space Jam: A New Legacy in 2021 and had a memorable supporting turn in the 2015 hit Trainwreck.
In addition to his work onscreen, James co-founded SpringHill Entertainment in 2020. The production company has credits on the remake of House Party released in 2023 and the documentary Black Ice about the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes in Canada.
