*Denotes clinched playoff spot

Philly is a veteran bunch that has been led this season by a fantastic rotation and a top of the lineup that includes Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. Schwarber (51 homers, 126 RBI, .938 OPS), in particular, is having an excellent season.

Philly's starting pitching staff, meanwhile, has been led by Cristopher Sánchez (13-5 with a 2.57 ERA in 29 starts), while Ranger Suárez remains a mainstay and Jesús Luzardo has offered flashes of brilliance.

In the bullpen, Jhoan Durán has been fantastic as the closer since being a trade deadline addition, while Matt Strahm, Orion Kerkering, Tanner Banks and David Robertson give the team a number of options.

But there are also some concerns.

The lineup has been inconsistent beyond the top three, notably in the outfield, where Nick Castellanos is having a poor season and manager Rob Thomson has opted to rely on platoons in left and right field.

Ace pitcher Zack Wheeler was also lost for the season due to venous thoracic outlet syndrome, while Aaron Nola missed a major chunk of the season and has had a down year when healthy. Luzardo has also been inconsistent, while the bullpen will be without José Alvarado, who is ineligible for the postseason after being suspended earlier in the season.

And yet, the Phillies continue to win. Schwarber is an MVP candidate, Sánchez is more than capable of handling No. 1 starter duties and Philly is loaded with players who have ample playoff experience. The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers are still the favorites in the NL, but this Phillies team should not be disregarded.
