Giannis' Dominant Highlights Impress Fans in Greece's EuroBasket 2025 Win vs. Georgia
Greece is still undefeated at EuroBasket 2025, and the main reason for its success is not exactly surprising.
It turns out, having two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo on your side makes games a little bit easier.
Antetokounmpo led his country to a dominant 94-53 victory over Georgia in Sunday's Group C game. Greece is now 3-0 with two group games remaining against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Spain.
The Milwaukee Bucks star stuffed the stat sheet with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals on 9-of-11 shooting from the field in a brilliant individual performance. He wasn't the only player who impressed for Greece, as Konstantinos Mitoglou added 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 shooting from deep.
But it was Antetokounmpo's highlights that stood out the most:
Antetokounmpo making plays in the open floor and finishing at the rim as he overpowers defenders is nothing new. NBA defenders can't stop him, which meant it was quite a daunting task for Georgia in Sunday's contest.
Yet it becomes unfair if he is hitting from beyond the three-point line, which he did at one point in the victory.
His gravitational pull and the double teams he draws as he penetrates also makes life easier for his teammates, and Mitoglou took full advantage with his red-hot outside shooting as Greece continued to pull away.
Perhaps the clearest indication of the impact he makes on a game was his stunning plus-minus number of plus-45 when he was on the court, per the tournament's official website. Georgia never had much of a chance to stop him, and the result was a straightforward victory.
If Antetokounmpo continues to play like he did Sunday, Greece will surely finish group play with a 5-0 record.
