Nikola Jokic Records Double-Double as Serbia Routs Estonia in EuroBasket 2025
It's only August, but Nikola Jokić seemed to be in midseason form Wednesday as he led Serbia to a convincing 98-64 victory over Estonia in the opening day of EuroBasket competition.
The Denver Nuggets star posted a double-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in just 23 minutes of action in a game that was never truly in doubt following a fast start. Had the game been closer, he likely would have played more minutes and notched a triple-double.
Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic led the team in scoring with 18 points as Serbia notched its first win playing out of Group A in the competition.
That Jokić was dialed in comes as no surprise, as he is arguably the top player in the NBA with a resume that includes a championship, three league MVPs, an NBA Finals MVP, seven All-NBA selections and seven All-Star nods.
He was brilliant again last season and averaged a triple-double of 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game while shooting 57.6 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from deep.
Jokić is accustomed to leading Serbia in international play as well and averaged 18.7 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals per game during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Serbia captured the bronze medal and nearly defeated the United States in the semifinals before Stephen Curry caught fire from deep down the stretch.
Fortunately for Jokić and Co., Serbia doesn't have to worry about Curry in EuroBasket.
