
Javonte Smart, USA Beat Brazil in FIBA AmeriCup, Updated Bracket After Group Stage
The United States entered the fourth quarter of Tuesday's AmeriCup matchup against Brazil trailing 67-64 and found itself in danger of losing a second straight game during the group stage.
But the Americans showed resolve, outscoring the Brazilians 23-14 in the final period to secure a much-needed 90-78 win.
Javonte Smart paced the United States with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Jahmius Ramsey added 15 points.

The United States has been shaky in the tournament to this point, needing overtime to beat the Bahamas before losing to Uruguay. But showing resolve against Brazil is a nice foundation to build upon as the United States heads into the quarterfinals alongside Uruguay and Brazil.
The rest of the field to advance to the next round includes Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Argentina and either Colombia or Venezuela.
