Konnor Griffin and MLB's 25 Best Prospects 20 Years Old or Younger in 2025

Joel ReuterAug 28, 2025

The future of Major League Baseball is bright.

Despite a long list of high-profile rookies arriving in the majors leagues this season, led by Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, the next wave of rising prospect talent is already generating plenty of buzz.

Konnor Griffin (PIT), Leo De Vries (ATH), Sebastian Walcott (TEX) and Jesús Made (MIL) are all now consensus top-10 prospects in the sport, despite the fact that they are all still teenagers.

Ahead, we've ranked the top 25 prospects who are 20 or younger, based on current production, future upside and long-term expectations.

Enjoy!

Nos. 25-21

2 of 10
2025 MLB All-Star Futures Game
George Lombard Jr.

25. SS JoJo Parker, Toronto Blue Jays (Age: 19)

Stats: Has not made pro debut

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 draft, Parker has a 60-hit, 55-power offensive profile, though a move away from shortstop to either second base or third base is expected down the road. He joins 2023 first-round pick Arjun Nimmala as the top position players in the Toronto farm system.

24. OF Eduardo Quintero, Los Angeles Dodgers (Age: 19)

Stats (A/A+): 103 G, .295/.416/.504, 44 XBH (16 HR), 45 SB

Signed for a modest $297,500 out of Venezuela in 2023, Quintero has emerged as the latest international find for a Dodgers organization that has done an excellent job mining that market over the years. Originally signed as a catcher, he has plus speed and all the tools to be a standout defender in center field.

23. SS Franklin Arias, Boston Red Sox (Age: 19)

Stats (A/A+): 102 G, .281/.343/.386, 31 XBH (6 HR), 11 SB

With Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer both moving on to the majors, Arias is now the top prospect in the Red Sox farm system. One of the best defensive shortstops in the minors with a 60-grade hit tool to boot, he has the potential to be an impact player even with middling power.

22. SS George Lombard Jr., New York Yankees (Age: 20)

Stats (A+/AA): 115 G, .232/.367/.369, 37 XBH (7 HR), 29 SB

Lombard hit .329/.495/.488 in 111 plate appearances at High-A to start the season before making his Double-A debut a month before his 20th birthday. The 6'2", 190-pound shortstop is still growing into his power, but he has an advanced approach at the plate and some of the best defensive tools of any shortstop prospect.

21. OF Jonny Farmelo, Seattle Mariners (Age: 20)

Stats (A+): 22 G, .244/.333/.500, 11 XBH (5 HR), 0 SB

A torn ACL in 2024 and a stress reaction in his rib this year have limited Farmelo to just 68 games since he was taken No. 29 overall in the 2023 draft and signed to an above-slot $3.2 million bonus. He has an .825 OPS with 28 extra-base hits and 18 steals in 320 plate appearances when he has managed to take the field, and he could fly up top prospect lists with a healthy 2026 campaign.

Nos. 20-16

3 of 10
San Diego Padres v. Washington Nationals
Eli Willits

20. 2B Michael Arroyo, Seattle Mariners (Age: 20)

Stats (A+/AA): 112 G, .258/.398/.440, 41 XBH (17 HR), 9 SB

After posting a .910 OPS with 26 doubles, 23 home runs and 89 RBI in 121 games between Single-A and High-A last year, Arroyo has continued to look like a future star in the batter's box. His arm and lack of quick-twitch athleticism likely limits him to second base, but it's his bat that could make him a future All-Star.

19. C/1B Josue Briceño, Detroit Tigers (Age: 20)

Stats (A+/AA): 86 G, .266/.383/.506, 36 XBH (19 HR), 1 SB

Briceño announced himself to the top prospect world when he won 2024 Arizona Fall League MVP honors with a .433/.509/.867 line and 10 home runs in 27 games, and he has continued to impress while climbing the minor league ranks. Questions remain about his long-term defensive home, but his 60-grade power is the real deal and should make him a clean fit at first base.

18. OF Theo Gillen, Tampa Bay Rays (Age: 19)

Stats (A): 73 G, .267/.433/.387, 18 XBH (5 HR), 36 SB

One of the best pure hitters in the 2024 high school class, Gillen has an .840 OPS and a healthy 19.8 percent walk rate at Single-A, and he has also swiped 36 bases in 39 attempts. He has a contact-over-power approach, but his ability to find the barrel and remaining projection in his 6'2", 195-pound frame should eventually make him at least a 20-homer threat.

17. SS Bryce Rainer, Detroit Tigers (Age: 20)

Stats (A): 35 G, .288/.383/.448, 10 XBH (5 HR), 9 SB

Rainer appeared to be on a similar trajectory as 2024 draft classmate Konnor Griffin early in the season before shoulder surgery brought his pro debut to a premature end in June. His 55-hit, 60-power offensive profile and potential to stick at shortstop could make him a consensus top 10 prospect in baseball in the not-too-distant future.

16. SS Eli Willits, Washington Nationals (Age: 17)

Stats (A): 5 G, .412/.524/.412, 0 XBH (0 HR), 2 SB

Still only 17 years old until December after reclassifying from the 2026 draft class, Willits has jumped right into the mix at Single-A and gone 7-for-17 with two steals in his first five professional games. He is extremely polished for his age, and even if he never develops more than average power, his 60-hit, 60-speed profile and high motor give him an extremely high floor.

Thomas White

15. IF Luis Peña, Milwaukee Brewers (Age: 18)

Stats (A/A+): 87 G, .287/.357/.454, 32 XBH (9 HR), 43 SB

Peña was part of the same 2024 international class as Jesús Made, and after hitting .393/.457/.583 over 184 plate appearances in the Dominican Summer League last year, he has continued to turn heads in his stateside debut. The 5'11" infielder does not have the same power ceiling as Made, but his 60-hit, 70-speed profile still makes him one of baseball's most promising teenagers.

14. OF Zyhir Hope, Los Angeles Dodgers (Age: 20)

Stats (A+): 112 G, .279/.393/.455, 42 XBH (13 HR), 24 SB

The Dodgers acquired Hope and left-hander Jackson Ferris in the deal that sent Michael Busch to the Cubs prior to the 2024 season, and he broke through as a top prospect on the rise last year with budding power and impressive batted-ball data. His raw tools are bolstered by an advanced approach in the batter's box, and he has logged a 15.4 percent walk rate this year at High-A.

13. RHP Seth Hernandez, Pittsburgh Pirates (Age: 19)

Stats: Has not made pro debut

Hernandez falls into the same category as other recent elite high school pitching prospects like Hunter Greene, MacKenzie Gore and Jackson Jobe, and has drawn some comparisons to Josh Beckett at the same point in his development. With a projectable 6'4", 190-pound frame, clean mechanics, advanced command and the potential for four plus pitches, he checks all the boxes to be a future ace.

12. OF Walker Jenkins, Minnesota Twins (Age: 20)

Stats (Rk/A/AA/AAA): 62 G, .299/.421/.466, 20 XBH (8 HR), 13 SB

A quad strain and hamstring injury limited Jenkins to 82 games last year, and a high ankle sprain cost him two months during the first half this season, but he has continued to look like a future middle-of-the-order star when healthy. He made his Triple-A debut on Tuesday, and could push for a spot on the Opening Day roster next spring.

11. LHP Thomas White, Miami Marlins (Age: 20)

Stats (A+/AA): 18 GS, 2.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 37 BB, 118 K, 75.1 IP

White is the top-ranked pitcher on this list, and depending on what type of workload Bubba Chandler (PIT) sees down the stretch, he could open the 2026 season as the No. 1 pitching prospect in baseball. The 6'5", 240-pound southpaw has a 3.13 ERA and 245 strikeouts in 175.2 innings since going No. 35 overall in the 2023 draft, though he still has work to do lowering his 11.7 percent walk rate.

Nos. 10-6

5 of 10
2025 MLB All-Star Week: Futures Game
Max Clark

10. OF Lazaro Montes, Seattle Mariners (Age: 20)

Stats (A+/AA): 115 G, .245/.355/.540, 55 XBH (32 HR), 5 SB

Montes posted an .881 OPS with 21 home runs and 105 RBI during a breakout 2024 season, and he is tied for the MiLB lead with 32 long balls in 115 games this year. He might ultimately be limited to DH duties at the next level, but his 6'5", 210-pound frame, smooth left-handed swing and 65-grade raw power give him Yordan Alvarez upside.

9. SS Ethan Holliday, Colorado Rockies (Age: 18)

Stats (A): 9 G, .222/.333/.278, 2 XBH (0 HR), 0 SB

Holliday has the highest long-term ceiling of any player from the 2025 draft class, and he immediately became the No. 1 prospect in the Rockies system after going No. 4 overall in July. There is some swing-and-miss to his game, and a shift to third base is likely with a 6'4", 210-pound frame, but he could be a perennial 40-homer slugger if everything clicks.

8. OF Max Clark, Detroit Tigers (Age: 20)

Stats (A+/AA): 98 G, .275/.409/.439, 33 XBH (12 HR), 19 SB

Questions remain about Clark's impact potential at the plate, but even if he tops out at 12-15 home runs per year at the next level, his hit tool, speed and defense in the outfield could make him a star. One day soon, we could look back on the Tigers getting Clark (No. 3 overall) and Kevin McGonigle (No. 37 overall) in the same 2023 class as a franchise-altering draft haul.

7. OF Josue De Paula, Los Angeles Dodgers (Age: 20)

Stats (A+): 88 G, .247/.392/.391, 23 XBH (10 HR), 28 SB

The 2025 Futures Game MVP, De Paula is now the consensus top prospect in the Dodgers system after Dalton Rushing moved on to the majors. With a rare 60-hit, 60-power offensive profile and an athletic 6'3", 185-pound frame, he offers as much offensive upside as any prospect in the sport.

6. 1B Bryce Eldridge, San Francisco Giants (Age: 20)

Stats (Rk/AA/AAA): 86 G, .255/.325/.511, 38 XBH (22 HR), 1 SB

An imposing 6'7", 240-pound slugger, Eldridge has 70-grade raw power and the potential to be the Giants best homegrown offensive player since Buster Posey. He has an .821 OPS with 15 home runs and 51 RBI in 50 games since a midseason promotion to Triple-A, and a September call-up could position him to claim the starting first base job next spring.

5. SS Colt Emerson, Seattle Mariners

6 of 10
Seattle Mariners v Colorado Rockies

Age: 20

Stats (A+/AA): 109 G, .276/.378/.439, 38 XBH (12 HR), 8 SB

Colt Emerson has only scratched the surface of his long-term potential, but he is already widely regarded as one of the best pure hitters in the minor leagues.

The No. 22 overall pick in the 2023 draft, Emerson has 203 professional games under his belt and a career .283/.397/.430 line and a 13.3 percent walk rate while already reaching Double-A in his age-19 campaign.

He has the potential to stick at shortstop, but could end up sliding to second base or third base where he has more than enough offensive game to still be a franchise cornerstone.

4. SS Sebastian Walcott, Texas Rangers

7 of 10
2025 MLB All-Star Futures Game

Age: 19

Stats (AA): 108 G, .239/.335/.372, 30 XBH (12 HR), 28 SB

A hyped prospect since signing for $3.2 million out of the Bahamas in 2023, Sebastian Walcott took a major step toward turning potential into production during the 2024 season.

He hit .265/.344/.452 with 34 doubles, 11 home runs, 56 RBI and 27 steals in 121 games playing primarily at High-A before closing out the season with five games at Double-A, and he has continued to impress at that level in 2025.

With Corey Seager signed through 2031 and Walcott expected to outgrow shortstop anyway once his 6'4", 190-pound frame fills out, he could wind up in right field where his strong arm and power potential are a prototypical fit.

3. SS Leo De Vries, Athletics

8 of 10
2025 MLB All-Star Futures Game

Age: 18

Stats (A+/AA): 104 G, .245/.353/.413, 39 XBH (10 HR), 11 SB

The prospect centerpiece of the blockbuster deal that sent Mason Miller to the San Diego Padres at this year's trade deadline, Leo De Vries stands as one of the most highly regarded to be traded in recent memory.

Signed for $4.2 million as the consensus top prospect on the 2024 international market, De Vries came stateside for his pro debut and jumped straight to Single-A where he hit .237/.361/.441 with 36 extra-base hits in 75 games.

The Athletics have put him on the fast track, promoting him to Double-A after just 15 games with their High-A affiliate, and he is currently the youngest player in the Texas League.

2. SS Jesús Made, Milwaukee Brewers

9 of 10
2025 MLB All-Star Week: Futures Game

Age: 18

Stats (A/A+): 100 G, .275/.377/.411, 36 XBH (6 HR), 42 SB

Jesús Made did not even receive the largest bonus from the Milwaukee Brewers international class in 2024, with his $950,000 payday dwarfed by the $1.7 million given to Jorge Quintana, who has since been traded to the San Diego Padres.

However, in his short professional career, Made has emerged as not only the top prospect from the 2024 international class and in the Brewers system, but as one of the top prospects in all of baseball.

He was promoted to High-A on Aug. 5, and he has not missed a beat, hitting .313/.395/.522 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and nine RBI in 17 games.

1. SS/OF Konnor Griffin, Pittsburgh Pirates

10 of 10
2025 MLB All-Star Week: Futures Game

Age: 19

Stats (A/A+/AA): 108 G, .329/.410/.512, 42 XBH (16 HR), 63 SB

The No. 9 overall pick and first high school player taken in the 2024 draft, Konnor Griffin has made a loud case for the title of No. 1 prospect in baseball in his professional debut.

With a real shot at 60-grade or better tools across the board if his hit tool continues to develop, Griffin is on track to be Pittsburgh's best homegrown hitter since Andrew McCutchen, whether he sticks at shortstop or winds up making a full-time move to center field.

He does have 109 strikeouts in 108 games, and that will be tested as he climbs the ladder to the upper levels of the minors, but the pieces are there for him to be a 30/30 player and defensive standout wherever he settles in.
