Kobe Bryant Autographed Lakers Logoman Card Sells for Record $2.3M in Private Auction
As the trading card market continues to explode in popularity, a Kobe Bryant card just set a new record.
On Wednesday, Will Stern of CLLCT relayed news that a 2015 Panini Flawless Logoman card featuring Bryant sold for $2.3 million in a private sale:
This isn't the only Bryant card that will make headlines this month, as Georgia Worrell of the New York Post reported a 2007 Upper Deck dual Logoman signed by the Los Angeles Lakers legend and Michael Jordan is expected to sell for $6 million in auction by Aug. 23.
The card features autographs and game-worn jersey patches from the two Hall of Famers and would break the current record of $5.9 million for a basketball card sale. That was a Stephen Curry-signed Logoman that sold in July 2021.
Bryant remains an iconic figure in the NBA world after a career that featured five championships, two NBA Finals MVPs, a league MVP, two scoring titles, 15 All-NBA selections, 18 All-Star selections and a spot on the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
That he and Jordan are both on the card that could set the record is fitting, as he famously modeled much of his game after the Chicago Bulls legend in the early days of his career.
The latest card sale is yet another testament to Bryant's overall popularity both among NBA fans and collectors.
