Latest on Terry McLaurin's Contract Rumors after Returning to Commanders Camp
The Washington Commanders' contract discussions with Terry McLaurin received an update from Dianna Russini of The Athletic on Monday.
"From what I can gather, nothing has changed significantly yet," Russini reported on the Scoop City podcast (17:15 mark). "I know there's some talk out there that McLaurin is looking for that identical contract of DK Metcalf. I heard there's parts of that contract that he's looking for, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the exact APY."

McLaurin reportedly requested a trade on Thursday while holding in during Washington's training camp, but the Commanders still don't have plans to move him.
The two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver is set to earn a $15.5 million base salary during the upcoming season before hitting free agency in 2026.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported July 28 that he feels McLaurin "wants considerably more than" the $33 million average annual value that Metcalf earned on his four-year, $132 million contract extension that he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
McLaurin has been a consistent weapon in Washington's passing attack throughout his career, recording at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past five years. He's also remained healthy throughout his tenure with the Commanders, as he hasn't missed a regular-season game since his 2020 campaign.
Russini previously reported that the "biggest holdup" in extension negotiations between both sides is McLaurin's age, since he'll be turning 30 years old during the 2025 season.
It appears as though both sides still have some work to do in order to find common ground in negotiations.
