John Cena Uses Tyrese Haliburton's Crutch vs. Cody Rhodes on Video at WWE SummerSlam
Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton attended WWE SummerSlam on Saturday night with a walking boot and crutches amid his recovery from the Achilles injury he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.
Haliburton—or at least one of his crutches—also wound up playing a role in John Cena's match against Cody Rhodes:
Haliburton underwent surgery on June 23. The Pacers confirmed on July 7 that he will not play during the 2025-26 season.
The walking boot is an improvement for Haliburton, who was using a scooter to move around less than two weeks ago, according to a July 22 report from ESPN.
Not everyone was happy to see the Pacers star on Sunday night. When Haliburton was featured on the big screen at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, he received boos from a crowd that apparently hasn't yet forgiven him for his role in eliminating the New York Knicks from consecutive playoffs.
"Missed y'all too," Haliburton told the New York crowd in a Sunday night post on X.
The 2025 edition of SummerSlam is the first in the event's history to span two days. The Night 2 match card features a Street Fight showdown between Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and former champion Cody Rhodes, who last met in April at WrestleMania 41.
