LeBron James reportedly congratulated Luka Dončić on his three-year, $165 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers during a Saturday morning FaceTime call, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Neither James nor his son Bronny James were present with their teammates on Saturday during the press conference held by general manager Rob Pelinka about Dončić's extension.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick and other players including Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, Deandre Ayton, Gabe Vincent and Jaxson Hayes were spotted at the press conference:

Stein noted that Austin Reaves, who also missed the press conference, is currently in Asia as part of a promotional tour for his signature shoe with the sporting goods brand Rigorer.

James is currently set to play next season with Dončić and the Lakers after exercising his $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 campaign.

His agent Rich Paul raised questions about James' future with the franchise in June, when he said in a statement shared with ESPN's Shams Charania that James "knows the Lakers are building for the future" and that his client "understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all."

Shortly after James activated his option, Dončić's manager Lara Beth Seager said in a statement shared with ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that her client "has nothing but the utmost respect for LeBron and considers it an honor to be his teammate.”
