Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Explains Being Doubled Off First on Pop-Up to 2B vs. Marlins
New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. detailed his perspective after he was doubled off at first base following a routine pop-up during the team's 2-0 loss to the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
Chisholm said that there was space between himself and first base at the time the ball was caught because he thought Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards was going to purposely let the ball drop, per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. He also said that he wouldn't do anything different in the future.
After the play, Chisholm and Yankees manager Aaron Boone entered the team's clubhouse together. New York's skipper was later seen having a heated discussion with first-base coach Travis Chapman.

Boone explained why Chisholm ultimately wasn't benched for the play following the defeat, though.
"It's a guy trying to make a play," Boone said, per Hoch. "I get it looks bad. But it's not a case of a guy that's dogging it."
Chisholm finished 0-for-2 with a walk in the loss.
New York's baserunning has come under fire recently and it continued on Saturday, as Trent Grisham was easily thrown out at home while attempting to score in the top of the first inning.
On Wednesday, Yankees catcher Austin Wells was doubled up once he left second base after incorrectly believing that there were three outs.
New York has also committed 61 errors this season, the eighth-most in the majors.
The Yankees have struggled as of late, owning a 13-17 record over their past 30 games and now sit at No. 3 in the American League East standings with a 60-51 overall mark.
