Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Yastrzemski, 34, has been with the Giants his entire career, making his MLB debut in 2019. Across seven seasons in the majors, he's hit 114 home runs and 346 RBI and has a career batting average of .238. This season, he's slugged eight homers and 28 RBI and has a .231 batting average.
The Giants have been busy at the trade deadline. Right before the 6 p.m. ET cut off, they sent reliever Camilo Doval to the New York Yankees in return for Jesus Rodriguez, Parks Harbor, Trystan Vrieling and one other player.
San Francisco is 54-55 on the season, sitting six games back in the wild card race. While they're certainly not out of the postseason race, the Giants would have needed to make some big moves at the deadline to get in position to compete, but it seems they leaned more toward being sellers instead.
Some expected the Royals to sell at the deadline, and starting ace Seth Lugo was their biggest trade piece. Kansas City instead enjoyed a successful stretch to get back into the playoff mix, and the team ended up giving Lugo an extension.
Now, the Royals, who are three games back in the wild card race, will look to finish out the regular season strong and try to make another postseason appearance.
