Warriors Reportedly Not Interested in Kings' DeRozan, Carter in Possible Kuminga Trade

A few obstacles stand in the way of a potential sign-and-trade involving Golden State Warriors forward (and restricted free agent) Jonathan Kuminga heading to the Sacramento Kings, per Sam Amick of The Athletic, who outlined the issues on the Warriors Plus/Minus podcast (h/t Evan Giddings of 95.7 The Game).

The 22-year-old Kuminga averaged 15.3 points on 45.4 percent shooting, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game last season.

Kuminga missed 31 straight games last year due to a sprained ankle. He ended up playing 47 games in total, starting 10.

The No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft showcased his potential in the second round of the playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. From Games 2-5, Kuminga averaged 24.3 points on 55.4 percent shooting, leading the team in scoring after guard Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 that sidelined him for the rest of the playoffs.

Golden State and Kuminga appear to be at an impasse regarding a deal.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Tuesday that Golden State's "best offers to Kuminga have topped out in the two-year, $40 million range." Kuminga's representation is looking for better offers and wants "sign-and-trade opportunities" for their client.

Kuminga, reportedly, is looking for $30 million annually, per Stein.

Stein wrote that the Kings and Phoenix Suns were "regarded as the most determined suitors."

However, it appears the Warriors and Kings might not be seeing eye-to-eye on a potential trade package, with the latter not interested in DeMar DeRozan or Devin Carter.

DeRozan, who turns 36 on Aug. 7, averaged 22.2 points, 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. He's a three-time All-NBA player and six-time All-Star who has two seasons left on a three-year, $73.9 million deal.

The 23-year-old Carter was the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. He played 36 games for Sacramento last season, averaging 3.8 points on 37.0 percent shooting in 11.0 minutes per game.

Right now, Kuminga remains a Warrior, and there doesn't appear to be anything indicating imminent movement on a deal, whether it's with Golden State or another team. Certainly, things can change quickly later this summer, but as of now, Kuminga's still in town until further notice.
