Julia StumbaughJul 28, 2025

Luka Dončić's recent Men's Health photoshoot may help boost his MVP odds ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

FanDuel Sportsbook is giving the Los Angeles Lakers star the third-best MVP odds behind the Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokić amid viral photos showing his offseason slimdown.

Here's a list of the top 10 players most likely to be named next season's MVP as of July 28, according to FanDuel.

Top 10 2025-26 MVP Candidates (via FanDuel)

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander +200

Nikola Jokić +230

Luka Dončić +700

Giannis Antetokounmpo +1000

Victor Wembanyama +1700

Anthony Edwards +2000

Cade Cunningham +3000

Jalen Brunson +5000

Paolo Banchero +5000

Kevin Durant +5000

Donovan Mitchell +7500

The Lakers' LeBron James is farther down the list at +15000 odds, per FanDuel.

Andrew Heffernan and Ebenezer Samuel wrote for Men's Health that Dončić made a change this offseason by taking a month away from the court in order to focus on "a weights routine that helped him build total-body strength."

Dončić's offseason routine has also included "slogging through two-a-days in Croatia while sticking to a gluten-free, low-sugar diet that includes at least 250 grams of protein and one almond milk–fueled shake a day," according to Heffernan and Samuel.

“Just visually, I would say my whole body looks better,” Dončić told Heffernan and Samuel.

Dončić's highest finish in MVP voting so far came during the 2023-24 campaign, when he finished third behind Jokić and Gilgeous-Alexander after leading the NBA with 33.9 points per game.

The former Dallas Mavericks star will hope his new offseason routine will help him return to that MVP-caliber level of production as he heads into his first full season with the Lakers this fall.
