Giants' Malik Nabers Gives Update on Toe Injury, Says There Was 'Talk About' Surgery
Malik Nabers had to deal with a toe injury following his standout rookie season, but the New York Giants wide receiver said Wednesday that he feels good heading into training camp.
"Toe is good. In the spring, we had a great rehab to try to get me back," he said. "So I'm back, feeling good, feeling a little bit better, healthy. I'm out there running around, feel good."
Nabers also said that surgery is no longer "up in the air," but there was "talk about it" earlier this offseason.

"There's been talk about it, just never really came to a complete thought in my mind for me to do it," Nabers said. "But I've been managing it well, running around, feeling pretty good. Everything has been going good with the rehab and my toe is feeling better."
Head coach Brian Daboll said in May that Nabers would be mostly limited in OTAs as he rehabbed the toe injury he suffered last season, but he said last month that he had no concerns about the wide receiver being ready to go for training camp.
Avoiding surgery is good news for both Nabers and the Giants, as New York can't afford to be without him as it tries to make a playoff push.
In a down year that saw the Giants go 3-14, Nabers was one of the only bright spots for the team. Despite missing two games with a concussion, Nabers picked up the fifth-most receptions in the league with 109 and the seventh-most receiving yards with 1,204. He added seven touchdowns as well.
He posted outstanding numbers in his first campaign, and they're even more impressive when considering that the Giants never had much consistency at the quarterback position.
New York will now have Russell Wilson under center, with another veteran option in Jameis Winston as well. A new quarterback giving him the ball could lead to an even better year for Nabers this season.
First, Nabers will spend training camp ensuring his toe is fully healed before a long season ahead.
