Jalen Green Warns Rockets: May 'Bust Y'all Ass for 30' Points After Suns Trade
In his farewell letter to the Houston Rockets, Jalen Green showed love to the team he has spent his entire career with, but also let them know that he's not going to take it easy on them this season.
In the letter, which he penned in The Players' Tribune, Green told fans not to take it personally if he goes off when the Rockets play his new team, the Phoenix Suns.
"And if I bust y’all ass for 30 next season, just remember the good times!" he wrote.
The Rockets drafted Green with the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, and he enjoyed a strong start to his career in Houston, but the team sent him, along with Dillon Brooks and draft picks, to the Suns in return for Kevin Durant.
While he's sad to leave Houston behind, Green said he understands why the Rockets made the move.
"Listen, nobody likes to get traded. But I can honestly say that I get it, bro," he wrote. "This is a business, and if I was up there in the executive chair, I probably would’ve made the deal, too. I think it’s a better situation for both sides, and I’m just excited to get it popping with Book, and to create that winning culture that we figured out down here in Houston."
Green had one of the best seasons of his career last year, putting up 21 points per game as he helped the Rockets earn the No. 2 seed in the West. Now, he'll team up with Devin Booker in Phoenix and try to help the Suns contend in the West.
When the Suns match up with Houston for the first time next season, it seems Green will be on his A-game.
