Warriors Reportedly Wanted Bradley Beal on Vet Minimum Contract Before Clippers Deal
The Golden State Warriors reportedly pursued Bradley Beal on a veteran minimum deal before the 32-year-old signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ClutchPoints Brett Siegel.
According to Siegel, if Beal was not open to the veteran minimum contract, the Warriors were not interested in signing the former Phoenix Suns guard.
It’s been a quiet offseason for the Warriors, who have been reluctant to make major moves — but Beal’s presence would have been a valuable addition.
The Warriors’ projected starter at the 2 is 22-year-old Brandin Podziemski, who averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 44.5 percent from the field last season. While reliable when called upon, Podziemski doesn’t align with the team’s veteran core of Stephen Curry, Buddy Hield, Jimmy Butler III and Draymond Green.
The 13-year veteran Beal would have fit seamlessly into the fifth starting spot alongside the team’s core group of veterans, had negotiations and mutual interest aligned.
Beal ultimately signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Clippers on Friday, which includes a player option for the 2026-27 season, after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Suns last week.
