Damian Lillard Announces New Blazers Contract in IG Video, 'Together Again'

The Portland Trail Blazers and their 2012 No. 6 overall pick are officially reunited, as Damian Lillard confirmed his return with an Instagram video panning across the team’s locker room before landing on his stall at Moda Center.

Lillard captioned the post: “RipCityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!”

Lillard parted ways with the Trail Blazers ahead of the 2023 season in a three-team trade that sent him to the Milwaukee Bucks.

During his two seasons in Milwaukee, the Bucks posted 49-33 and 48-34 records but were bounced in back-to-back first-round playoff exits. Lillard averaged 24.6 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 37.6 percent from three in Milwaukee.

The 35-year-old suffered a torn Achilles on April 27 in the first quarter of Game 3 during the Bucks’ first-round series against the Indiana Pacers. The injury put an end to a strong season in which Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists while shooting 44.8 percent from the field.

After leaving his longtime home of Portland in search of a championship, Lillard is officially returning to the Trail Blazers on a three-year, $42 million deal that includes a no-trade clause and a player option for the 2027-28 season.
