NBA 2K26 Unveils New Gameplay Features, Schedule for Reveals Ahead of Release Date

There will be no shortage of new features and changes in NBA 2K26 when it is released for early access on Aug. 9 and globally on Sept. 5.

NBA 2K26 announced Thursday it plans on unveiling further details on different aspects of the game throughout the rest of the summer leading to the release. It noted that "our team at Visual Concepts has listened carefully to community feedback and applied these learnings in earnest."

Here is a look at some of the changes and the dates where further details will be revealed:

Gameplay (Full Reveal Week of July 28)

• Skill-based gameplay will be rewarded
• Higher difficulties will feature green or miss jump shot timing, and shot meters and dunk meters will show green windows that resemble those in NBA 2K24
• New offensive moves in the post and when attacking the rim; new defensive tools in the paint and with footwork on the perimeter

MyPLAYER Builder (Full Reveal Week of Aug. 4)

• Ability to preview unlockable body types
• Additional MyPLAYER build diversity that allows for players tall and short to be effective on the floor

MyTEAM (Full Reveal Week of Aug. 11)

• Triple Threat Park returns with new ways to play with or against friends and with more collection-improving rewards
• King of the Court will have a weekly cash prize and VC up for grabs. Events will also take place over the course of full weekends instead of four-hour windows on Saturdays.

MyCAREER (Full Reveal Week of Aug. 18)

• Out of Bounds will feature more objectives and more consequences for story games and choices when trying to improve one's draft stock
• Players go through the entire draft process and can be selected based on performance and overall team needs. Players can conduct private workouts with teams to influence where they may end up come draft day.

MyNBA (Full Reveal Week of Aug. 18)

• Dynamic banners will appear in stadiums rafters as players win championships
• Unranked MyGM will feature more customization with the ability to import custom rosters and draft classes.

The City (Full Reveal Week of Aug. 25)

• Available for the first time on Nintendo Switch 2
• New designs and scenery for the Park, as well as new lighting improvements and time of day changes to reduce shade and sunlight concerns
• New mode leaderboards in the City and daily statues of MyPLAYERs who leads in different modes

NBA 2K26 will be available on PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
