2025 WNBA All-Star 3-Point Contest, Skills Competition Known Participants and Preview

Adam WellsJul 17, 2025

As the WNBA descends on Indianapolis for the first city's first All-Star weekend, the Skills Challenge and Three-Point Competition are loaded with arguably the deepest collection of talent between the two events.

Here are the current lineups for both events that were officially unveiled by the WNBA this week.

Three-Point Competition Participants

Tennessee Pro Day Football
  • Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever (won't participate)
  • Lexie Hull, Indiana Fever (Clark's replacement)
  • Allisha Gray, Atlanta Dream
  • Sabrina Ionescu, New York Liberty
  • Sonia Citron, Washington Mystics
  • Kelsey Plum, Los Angeles Sparks

Skills Challenge Participants

  • Natasha Cloud, New York Liberty
  • Skylar Diggins, Seattle Storm
  • Allisha Gray, Atlanta Dream
  • Erica Wheeler, Seattle Storm
  • Courtney Williams, Minnesota Lynx

The biggest question mark was answered on Thursday when Clark announced she won't take part in the Three-Point Contest or All-Star Game. Hull was announced as her opponent on Friday.

Clark, who figured to be the center of attention with All-Star weekend in her home city, aggravated a groin injury in the Fever's win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. She sat out Wednesday's loss against the New York Liberty in the team's final game before the All-Star break.

Fever head coach Stephanie White did sound optimistic Clark wouldn't miss a lot of time while speaking to reporters prior to the Liberty game.

Clark's recent in-game struggles from behind the arc make it hard to bet on her winning if she had been able to participate. The 23-year-old is shooting 14.3 percent from three (7-of-49) in her last seven games.

The co-favorites should be the last two winners of the Three-Point Contest: Allisha Gray (2024) and Sabrina Ionescu (2023). They will be joined by Washington Mystics rookie Sonia Citron and Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum in her first appearance in this event since 2022.

Gray's 38.1 percent success rate from three-point range is tied with Rachel Banham for the best among all players with at least 100 attempts.

Ionescu's shooting is down this year (30.9 percent from three), but she is just two years removed from setting the record for highest-scoring round in the Three-Point Contest for an NBA or WNBA player (37 points).

Gray will be pulling double duty on Friday night as one of the five participants in the Skills Challenge. The Atlanta Dream star is also the defending champ in the event. She will look to become the first repeat winner of the Skills Challenge.

Challenging Gray will be the Seattle Storm duo of Skylar Diggins and Erica Wheeler, Natasha Cloud of the New York Liberty and Courtney Williams of the Minnesota Lynx.

Williams and Cloud have been the most effective passers this season among the five players in the Skills Challenge. They are tied for third in the league with 6.0 assists per game.

Gray doesn't rack up high assist totals because Jordin Canada is the lead point guard for the Dream, but her dribbling and shooting touch makes her a safe bet to win this event again.

WNBA All-Star Friday night begins at 8 p.m. ET from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
