Hot Takes on Pelicans' Jeremiah Fears, Hunter Dickinson vs. Thunder with Queen Out
Wednesday was not a great night for the young New Orleans Pelicans.
The team fell 95-81 to a stronger Oklahoma City Thunder team and fell to 0-4 within Summer League competition.
The Pelicans went up 20-12 in the opening quarter and entered halftime with a two-point lead. However, Oklahoma City outscored the Pelicans 63-47 in the second half to snag a comfortable lead and show why the organization is the defending champion.
Derik Queen, the No. 13 pick in the draft, was not in the lineup after playing a prominent role in Tuesday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
However, No. 7 pick Jeremiah Fears was active and scored 20 points with six rebounds and six assists. This came after he was ejected from Wednesday's game and fans took to praise his breakout performance.
While Queen wasn't in the lineup, another notable college rookie did get a prominent role. Hunter Dickinson, a two-time consensus All-American in college, scored eight points and added seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 26 minutes.
Following the performance, fans took to social media to debate his chances at making it at the NBA level.
Dickinson was signed by the Pelicans as an undrafted free agent this Summer and he is pushing to make the team's roster for next season.
The Pelicans will look to close out their Summer League season on Friday when they face the Indiana Fever.
