Bradley Beal's Suns Contract Buyout Reportedly Could Wait Until $13M Payment Triggers

Zach BacharJul 12, 2025

The Phoenix Suns and Bradley Beal could wait to reach a buyout agreement due to a stipulation in his contract.

According to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Beal is owed an advance payment of just over $13 million on Tuesday. It represents 25 percent of his 2025-26 salary.

Per Stein and Fischer, Beal will receive the amount regardless of his exit from Phoenix, but it is "believed" that he could wait for the payment to go through before parting ways with the organization.

Beal is currently set to earn $53.7 million during the 2025-26 season and also has a $57.1 million player option for his 2026-27 campaign.

Given his hefty salary and 58 games missed over the past two seasons, it's understandable that opposing teams reportedly haven't been interested in him on the trade market.

On July 3, Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic reported that the Suns were discussing the possibility of buying out Beal's contract and allowing him to hit unrestricted free agency.

The three-time All-Star may not have a long list of suitors on the trade market, but he could be an enticing option on a much more palatable contract for teams searching for an offensive spark.

Beal has averaged 17.6 points and 4.3 assists per game on 50.5/40.7/80.8 shooting splits throughout his tenure with Phoenix.

A smaller role on a contender could also allow the 32-year-old to thrive without receiving as much defensive attention. Beal owned a 64.5 true shooting percentage in 15 games off the bench last season compared to a 58.1 true shooting percentage in 38 appearances as a starter.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have already been linked to Beal should he become a free agent.

He could be searching for a change of scenery soon, especially after he receives his payment on Tuesday.
