Davante Adams Says LeBron James Could've Been Among Best WRs, TEs in NFL History
LeBron James is one of the most athletic players in NBA history, and Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams thinks his athleticism would translate to the football field.
Not only does Adams think James could hold his own in the NFL, he said on The Dan Patrick Show that he would excel.
"He would've been one of the best wide receivers or tight ends of all time, no question," Adams said. "I don't know if you've ever seen him play football. He can fly, too. That's the thing, he's one of the fastest NBA players of all time. I've never seen somebody cover space that way on a basketball court."
At 6'9", 250 pounds, James has a comparable size to plenty of NFL tight ends, but his speed is more similar to that of a wide receiver. Had he stuck to football rather than focusing on basketball, James likely could have carved out a prolific NFL career by now.
In 2011, during the NBA lockout, he reportedly had a chance to try his luck in the NFL. In a 2021 interview with The Athletic, James revealed that the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys invited him to try out.
He ultimately decided to stay in the NBA, and that was probably the best move considering he went on to win four titles and become the league's all-time leading scorer.
