Lakers' Bronny James Discusses His Goals for 2025 NBA Summer League on Video
Following his 2025 NBA Summer League debut on Sunday, Bronny James spoke to reporters about his focus for the summer.
“Just trying to get my flow back and, like you said, conditioning,” James said. “Trying to go out there and have fun and not be tired as hell when I’m done."
James finished with 10 points, two rebounds, and one assist in 10 minutes and 32 seconds of action, shooting 42 percent from the field as the Lakers cruised to a 102–82 win over the Miami Heat.
James’ explosive performance follows his own admission that he’s been taking major strides ahead of his sophomore season—progress that’s clearly starting to pay off.
One personal goal he didn’t mention in Sunday’s postgame media session: improving his diet and trimming down, part of his broader effort to elevate his game.
"Just staying on top of my diet, eating healthy, being a professional," James told Broderick Turner of The Los Angeles Times. "It’s just Year 2, so I gotta lock in on the things that I didn’t know before my rookie year and being better and excel with that. Yeah, my main focus is this year, or this summer, has been being in elite condition. That’s what I’ve been talking to my coaches about.”
Bronny’s second Summer League campaign comes on the heels of a rookie season in which he appeared in 27 games for the Los Angeles Lakers, including one start. He averaged 2.3 points per game while spending the majority of his time developing with the South Bay Lakers in the G League.
