Kevin Durant Thanked by Suns in Video, Photo After Historic NBA Trade to Rockets
The Phoenix Suns thanked Kevin Durant for his time with the organization in a social media video posted on Sunday.
After joining Phoenix during the 2022-23 season, Durant went on to spend the next two years with the Suns.
He was eventually traded to the Houston Rockets as part of the first seven-team swap in NBA history, which was finalized on Sunday.
Phoenix received Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, Koby Brea, Daeqwon Plowden and a future second-round pick in the deal.
Durant reflected on his tenure with the Suns organization on social media.
"My time in Phoenix has come to an end," Durant wrote in a Sunday post on X. "All these stops along the journey have really impacted me in a positive way. Remember it’s a world behind the scenes, and those who make things work in that space, work tirelessly to make our lives easier as players. I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates distant cousins, it’s all a family that I’m grateful to be apart of, no matter what."
Phoenix initially acquired Durant in a Feb. 2023 trade with the Brooklyn Nets, appearing in eight regular-season games with the team to close out his 2022-23 campaign.
While the Suns never advanced beyond the second round of the playoffs with Durant, the two-time champion remained one of the NBA's most efficient volume scorers with the team.
He averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 blocks per game on 52.7/42.7/84.7 shooting splits during his career in Phoenix.
Durant reached several important milestones as a member of the Suns, earning his 15th All-Star nod in 2025 and becoming the eighth player in NBA history to record 30,000 career points.
Now, he'll look to help a Rockets squad that is coming off a 52-30 finish last season.
