Hot Takes on Spurs' Carter Bryant vs. Heat With Dylan Harper Out Due to Groin Injury
The 2025 California Classic Summer League tipped off on Saturday, with the Miami Heat taking down the San Antonio Spurs by the final score of 82-69.
It also marked the summer debut of Spurs guard Carter Bryant, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft.
San Antonio's Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall selection, didn't suit up in the contest due to a groin injury.
As for Bryant, he finished with seven points on 3-of-8 shooting. It's worth noting that he connected on both of his attempts from inside the arc, but hit just one of his six shots from three-point territory.
The former Arizona standout also pulled down five rebounds and dished out one assist in 21 minutes on the floor.
Fans reacted to Bryant's debut.
Bryant's shooting woes shouldn't be a major concern after just one summer league appearance, especially since he connected on 37.1 percent of his triples during his freshman year with the Wildcats.
While he picked up a few quick fouls on Saturday, his perimeter defense should also improve as he adjusts to the summer league atmosphere.
Carter will have a quick turnaround as he looks to build upon his debut, as the Spurs are scheduled to face off against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
