Micah Parsons, Michael Jordan, Kobe and More Honored on New Eminem and JID NSFW Song
References to athletes are common in rap songs, but the latest single from JID and Eminem might have taken things to another level.
JID dropped a new song "Animals (Pt. 1)" featuring Eminem that mentions seven different people from the sports world in a single verse alone.
The six athletes mentioned in JID's verse include Micah Parsons, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Jayden Daniels, Tyrese Maxey, and Scottie Pippen. Stephen A. Smith is the seventh person from the world of sports directly mentioned in the song.
Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett is also shouted out in the verse.
JID's lyric about Bryant specifically talks about his 81-point game in January 2006: "Baow, baow, eight-one like Kobe in '06"
This marks the latest collaboration between JID and Eminem. They previously worked together on "Fuel" that appeared on Em's album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) that was released in July 2024. There weren't nearly as many sports references in that song, but former Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond got a shoutout.
JID decided to drop the lyric video for "Animals (Pt. 1) on Friday, though it won't appear on the proper album release for God Does Like Ugly when it releases on Aug. 8.
The Atlanta-born rapper wrote on Instagram that it was one of four tracks cut, but fans can playlist them with the proper album on YouTube.
