Kevin Durant Trade to Rockets Involving NBA Record 7 Teams Reportedly Agreed Upon
Not only is the Phoenix Suns' trade of Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets now "fully agreed to in principle," but it's been expanded to include seven teams in total, per NBA insider Jake Fischer.
The trade will also include the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks, per Fischer.
Unsurprisingly, this trade includes the most teams in any deal in league history.
The Rockets sent Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 2025 draft's No. 10 pick (Khaman Maluach) and five second-round picks to the Suns for Durant.
However, it's being expanded to include five more teams. NBA digital creator Jeff Shao (h/t NBA Retweet) broke it all down, citing The Athletic's Fred Katz and NBA salary cap and transaction analyst Blake Stern.
One of the notable aspects of the deal is the Rockets reuniting with center Clint Capela in a sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks.
The 31-year-old big man averaged a double-double for seven straight seasons until this past year (8.9 PPG, 8.5 RPG in 21.4 MPG).
The draft rights to a few other players also changed hands, including Arkansas forward Adou Theiro, the No. 36 pick, heading from the Brooklyn Nets to Lakers.
This deal will be formally completed on Sunday, when the new league year begins.
