Cooper Flagg's 1st Photo in Mavs Uniform Revealed After 2025 NBA Draft
The future of the Dallas Mavericks is here, and fans got their first look at him in uniform on Wednesday.
The Mavs revealed No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg's first photos rocking a Dallas uniform, and he'll look to follow in the footsteps of the greats who wore the iconic jerseys before him.
Flagg previously wore No. 2 at Duke, but he's switching things up in the pros. His decision to wear No. 32 has a reason behind it. According to Sports Illustrated's Madison Williams, Flagg chose No. 32 to honor his mother, who sported the No. 32 jersey during her playing days.
Flagg joins the Mavs following an outstanding freshman season with the Blue Devils. He put up 19.2 points, 7.5 boards and 4.2 assists on his way to being named the consensus national player of the year. He also helped lead Duke to the Final Four behind a phenomenal tournament run.
Flagg was the No. 1 player in the class of 2024, per 247Sports' composite rankings, and he was widely projected to be the first pick in the 2025 draft even before he stepped foot on campus last year. His play in his lone season at Duke all but confirmed that he was the best player in this year's draft class.
Flagg experienced the kind of pre-draft hype only players like LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama have had, and now the expectations for his rookie year are high. He lived up to lofty expectations in college, and he'll look to do so again in the NBA.
Though Mavs fans are still getting over the team trading star Luka Dončić, winning the lottery and landing a player like Flagg should make things easier. With a core of Flagg, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, Dallas is going to be a team to watch for years to come.
