The Oklahoma City Thunder traded forward Dillon Jones and a 2029 second-round draft pick to the Wizards on Saturday night, Washington announced.

The Thunder received Colby Jones as part of the deal and he'll reportedly be waived by Oklahoma City to free up a roster spot, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

ESPN's Bobby Marks provided some more information on the deal:

Oklahoma City also ended up moving $9.5 million under the luxury tax following the deal, via Spotrac's Keith Smith.

Washington will receive draft compensation along with Jones, a first-round pick in the 2024 draft.

Jones appeared in 54 games with Oklahoma City during his rookie season, although he struggled to carve out a consistent role on a Thunder squad that paced the league with 68 wins and ended up winning a championship.

The 23-year-old averaged 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 10.2 minutes per game while shooting 50.0 percent on two-point field goals and 25.4 percent on threes.

He also appeared in 18 regular-season contests for the team's G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue. Jones recorded 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game on 43.8/27.5/64.3 shooting splits in the G League.

Washington should provide Jones with a chance to step into a larger role and compete for consistent playing time.

As for Colby Jones, he averaged 4.0 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field in 39 combined appearances with the Wizards and Sacramento Kings during the 2024-25 season.
