Cooper Flagg is starting out his Dallas Mavericks career by cheering on a fellow first overall pick.

Flagg posted an Instagram story on Friday from the crowd at a Dallas Wings game, where 2024 WNBA top pick Paige Bueckers was playing against the Indiana Fever.

The WNBA team shared a video of Flagg greeting the Wings in the hallway before the game:

The Mavericks selected Flagg with the No. 1 pick of the 2025 NBA draft on Wednesday. Flagg complimented Bueckers during his introductory press conference after the selection.

"She's a great person. She's had an incredible career so far," Flagg said.

The NBA draft took place months after the Wings drafted Bueckers with the first pick of the 2025 WNBA draft in April.

Dallas is the first city since Cleveland in 2003 to receive first overall picks in both the NBA and WNBA in the same season, per Sports Illustrated's Madison Williams. The Cavaliers drafted LeBron James, while the Cleveland Rockets drafted LaToya Thomas.

Bueckers told Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News on Friday that it was "really cool" for the city of Dallas to get two top picks in such quick succession.

"It's an exciting time for Dallas basketball," Bueckers said ahead of the game. "For us all to support each other, we want great things for the city, to represent the city well."

Fever star Caitlin Clark may have been sidelined with a left groin injury, but Bueckers and the Wings were facing another recent top pick in Indiana's Aliyah Boston.

The game marked the first time Bueckers and Boston played one another since the 2022 NCAA title game between South Carolina and UConn.

The Wings sit at the bottom of the WNBA with a 4-12 record heading into Friday. Bueckers has been a bright spot, averaging 17.7 points on 45.7 shooting from the field while adding 5.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest through the first 12 games of her pro career.
