2025 NBA Draft Scouting Report for Toronto Raptors No. 39 Pick Alijah Martin

B/R NBA StaffJun 26, 2025

The Toronto Raptors have selected Alijah Martin with the No. 39 pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Martin is an experienced guard who spent four years at Florida Atlantic before transferring to Florida and winning a national title this past season. He's a burly, slashing-type prospect who can also get hot as a jump-shooter.

Although Martin is undersized, he's capable of playing bigger than his listed height, and he can punish opposing guards who aren't prepared for his physicality.

Essential Facts and Stats

College: Florida | Position: SG | Height: 6'2" | Weight: 208 | Age: 23 | Wingspan: 6'7.5" | PPG: 14.4 | RPG: 4.5 | APG: 2.2 | BPG: 0.2 | SPG: 1.5 | FG%: 45.2

Realistic Pro Comparison: Adam Flagler

Martin and Adam Flagler are undersized 2-guards who'll have a chance due to their shooting and efficiency.

Martin is a better athlete with a stronger build for defending 2s, which is key for a 6'2" guard who lacks playmaking ability.

He also showed off impressive leaping ability with a 38" maximum vertical at the NBA Draft Combine that could separate him just a bit from Flagler.

Strengths

2 of 3
NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament - National Championship - San Antonio

Strength/Athleticism: Though he's small for a 2-guard, Martin makes up a lot of that gap with real, functional strength and above-average athleticism.

Shotmaking: You'd like his three-point percentage (35.0) and free-throw percentage (76.1) to be a bit higher, but Martin has a knack for creating, taking and making tough shots.

Defense: Martin is a committed defender who can compensate for his lack of size with loads of competitiveness and awareness.

Weaknesses

3 of 3
NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament - National Championship - San Antonio

Positional Size: Even as a point guard, it can be tough to survive in the NBA at 6'2". And Martin is a 2. It'll be an uphill battle for him to stay in the league due to his size.

Creation for Others: One way to offset a lack of size or athleticism is with passing, but Martin hasn't shown a knack for creating for his teammates, even when he was at Florida Atlantic.

Age: For a player with some challenges to work through, you'd ideally have a little more time before he hits his prime. However, Martin is already 23.
