Scouting Report for Philadelphia 76ers Undrafted Free Agent Signing Izan Almansa
The Philadelphia 76ers are signing free agent Izan Almansa to an Exhibit 10 contract after he went undrafted in the 2025 NBA draft, according to Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.
It's been a long, winding and international road to the NBA for Almansa, who's already spent time with Real Madrid, Overtime Elite, the NBA G League and the Perth Wildcats. Everywhere he's been, the big man's motor has helped him rebound and score around the rim, but there are some real questions as well (as there are for every second-rounder).
Almansa has a ways to go to develop as a shooter. And as a way to offset his lack of high-end athleticism, he could use some work as a passer, too.
Essential Facts and Stats
Previous Team: Perth | Position: PF/C | Height: 6'9" | Weight: 220 | Age: 20 | Wingspan: 7'2" | PPG: 7.2 | RPG: 4.0 | APG: 0.8 | BPG: 0.3 | SPG: 0.4 | FG%: 52.0
Realistic Pro Comparison: Richaun Holmes
1 of 3
Another slightly undersized center with limited shooting range, Richaun Holmes has carved out a long and solid NBA career for himself by playing hard and attacking the boards.
Almansa has a similar opportunity and the motor to make it happen.
He doesn't profile as quite the same level of rim protector as Holmes, but he can improve in that respect as he spends more time in NBA defensive schemes.
Strengths
2 of 3
Motor: Almansa doesn't take possessions off, even when he's not getting the opportunity to finish many of them. For a player whose athleticism doesn't necessarily pop off the screen, that's important.
Length: Though Almansa stands only 6'9", his nearly 7'2" wingspan could allow him to play some 5 in the NBA, especially in second units.
Floater: Almansa's jump shot leaves something to be desired, but he can still do some damage as a scorer with a relatively consistent floater (or push shot) in the lane.
Weaknesses
3 of 3
Shooting: Beyond uninspiring shooting numbers, Almansa's jumper takes a little more time to load up than you'd like. It also starts pretty low on his body.
Athleticism: Almansa is a good-but-not-great athlete. For someone who may need to be sort of a energy-off-the-bench guy, that's not ideal.
Defensive Instincts: This isn't unique to Almansa. Plenty of young players struggle with the finer points of defense. But in the NBA, he'll have to get better about staying down on pump fakes and making the right rotations.
