2026 NBA Title Odds After Mavs Select Cooper Flagg No. 1 in 2025 Draft
The Dallas Mavericks added a generational talent on Wednesday when they selected Duke's Cooper Flagg with the first pick in the NBA draft.
The Mavericks are hoping Flagg can help them get back to the Finals after trading Luka Dončić, and they could have a chance to compete for a title in the near future.
After the addition of Flagg, here's a look at the updated NBA title odds, via FanDuel Sportsbook:
- Oklahoma City Thunder (+220)
- Cleveland Cavaliers (+800)
- Houston Rockets (+900)
- New York Knicks (+900)
- Orlando Magic (+1200)
- Minnesota Timberwolves (+1400)
- Los Angeles Lakers (+1400)
- Boston Celtics (+1600)
- Denver Nuggets (+1600)
- Los Angeles Clippers (+2500)
- San Antonio Spurs (+2900)
- Golden State Warriors (+2900)
- Dallas Mavericks (+3300)
- Philadelphia 76ers (+3300)
- Indiana Pacers (+5000)
A team like the Mavericks will certainly have title hopes in Flagg's first year, but they've got a big challenge ahead of them. The main thing holding Dallas back this season will be the lack of Kyrie Irving, who suffered a torn ACL in March and is set to miss much of the season.
But Irving reportedly is expecting to return to the court by January, so all hope isn't lost for a possible title run for the Mavericks. If Flagg, Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson can keep Dallas afloat, the addition of Irving before the postseason could give the team a jolt of energy.
But even if the Mavericks aren't contenders in Year 1 of Flagg, the future is certainly bright.
A consensus national player of the year at Duke, Flagg put up 19.2 points and 7.5 boards for the Blue Devils, proving he's ready for the next level. If Flagg lives up to the fraction of the hype surrounding him coming into the draft, he'll be on his way to a great career.
