Paige Bueckers Says She, Cooper Flagg 'Have Expectations for Ourselves' as No. 1 Picks
Cooper Flagg became the top overall pick in the NBA draft on Wednesday night, joining Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving on the Dallas Mavericks.
Another first overall pick, Dallas Wings' rookie Paige Bueckers, spoke about the expectations that both herself and Flagg carry after being taken atop their respective drafts (and now sharing a city):

The Mavericks will certainly hope that Flagg can put together the sort of rookie season that Bueckers is already having.
The Wings' rookie guard already looks like a shoo-in to earn WNBA Rookie of the Year honors, averaging 17.7 points, 5.8 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from three.
Bueckers hasn't quite brought quite the same level of media frenzy and hype that accompanied last year's Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark, but she's undoubtedly already lived up to expectations.
Flagg, meanwhile, is expected to help the Mavs on multiple fronts immediately, hitting the NBA as a versatile scorer, playmaker and defender. They'll need him to play a major role immediately, especially with Irving recovering from a torn ACL.
Flagg is the de facto replacement for Luka Dončić as the long-term face of the franchise, which brings its own level of pressure. He'll have Davis and Irving to shoulder some of that load in the short term, however, and Dallas fans are hoping for big things from that trio.
It is, despite the previous and shocking trade of Dončić, a fun time to be a Dallas basketball fan.
