Knicks Fans Trample JR Smith 😳
"His flat-out love for the game," Maria Harper said about what got Harper to the NBA. "His determination, his humility and his hard work day in and day out.
Ron Harper Jr., who is in the Detroit Pistons organization, said that his brother should "enjoy the moment" and that he will have some love in his heart for his brother's new team.
"Savor the moment, live in the moment and enjoy it," Harper said. "He worked so hard for this and we have all been there for him every step of the journey. We're so proud of him, I've got to be a secondary Spurs fan now."
Dylan Harper is the son of Ron Harper, who was a 15-year NBA player and five-time NBA Champion with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
Of course, Dylan could be much more successful in terms of compensation during his NBA career.
The youngest Harper averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and four assists in 29 games for Rutgers during the 2024-25 collegiate season. He was named All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman for his efforts.
He will now join a Spurs team that is in a six-year postseason drought and went 34-48 in 2024-25. While the team has seen some struggles in recent seasons, a young core built around Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox and Harper should lead to better days ahead.
