Spurs Reportedly Trade 2025 2nd-Round NBA Draft Pick to Pacers for Future Pick, Cash

Paul KasabianJun 25, 2025

The San Antonio Spurs have reportedly traded the No. 38 pick in this year's draft to the Indiana Pacers for a future second-round draft choice and cash, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the future second-rounder is a 2030 pick that the Pacers acquired from the Sacramento Kings, who dealt the selection (and a 2028 second-rounder) to Indiana for Chris Duarte in July 2023.

NBA salary cap analyst Yossi Gozlan and ESPN's Bobby Marks provided more insight into the move from the Pacers' perspective.

The Spurs still own the No. 2 and No. 14 overall picks. Indiana now has the No. 38 and No. 54 selections.

It's a nice pickup for the Pacers, who don't have a first-rounder in this year's draft. Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star explained why that's the case.

"The Pacers had the No. 23 pick in the draft, butย traded it last week to the New Orleans Pelicansย to recover the 2026 first-round pick the Pacers originally traded to the Raptors along with Bruce Brown and Jordan Nwora and two picks in the 2024 draft forย Pascal Siakam. The Raptors traded the pick along with Brown to the Pelicans to acquire Brandon Ingram."

Indiana, of course, just made the NBA Finals for the second time in franchise history. The Pacers pushed the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games before losing in the NBA Finals. They still have a great talent base next year but will presumably have to traverse the 2025-26 season without the services of Tyrese Haliburton, the playoff megastar who sadly suffered a torn right Achilles in Game 7 of the Finals. Thankfully, surgery was successful.

As for San Antonio, the Spurs are looking to add to a talent base that's already promising, with big man Victor Wembanyama leading the way, flanked by a past All-Star in De'Aaron Fox and reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle. The sky's the limit in San Antonio with Wembanyama presumably continuing his ascendance, and the Spurs have draft picks to use to continue building around a player who could very well be the league's top talent in due time.
