76ers Reportedly Expected to Make 'At Least' 1 More Trade Call for Spurs' No. 2 Pick

The Philadelphia 76ers are almost guaranteed to land a talented prospect with the No. 3 pick in Wednesday night's NBA draft, but that reportedly hasn't stopped them from exploring the possibility of moving up.

NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that he feels the Sixers "will make at least one more trade run at the No. 2 overall pick" by calling the San Antonio Spurs and gauging their interest in moving out of that spot.

Despite Philadelphia's reported interest in moving up to No. 2, Fischer added, "I also strongly believe that San Antonio has never strongly considered surrendering the pick and missing out on the chance to draft [Dylan] Harper."

The Spurs have long been linked to Harper, as Duke star Cooper Flagg is universally expected to be selected No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks. B/R's Jonathan Wasserman predicted in his latest mock draft that San Antonio would hold onto the No. 2 pick to add Harper to its growing collection of young talent.

Despite Harper's massive upside, there are questions about his fit with the Spurs. The team already has star point guard De'Aaron Fox and 2025 NBA Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle on the roster, and both of them have similar playing styles to Harper. Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports recently pointed out that the former Rutgers star "made only 36.8 percent of his catch-and-shoot 3s and just 28.7 percent of his dribble jumpers," which has allowed San Antonio to listen to offers for the No. 2 pick.

"How many shaky shooters can the Spurs really put around Victor Wembanyama? That’s the whole reason why San Antonio would even listen to offers," O'Connor stated.

Wasserman predicted that the Sixers would land Baylor guard V.J. Edgecombe with the No. 3 pick, who would be a strong fit alongside star players Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. However, Philadelphia obviously wouldn't pass up on the opportunity to land Harper if San Antonio is willing to move down a spot.
