Blazers' Ayton, Williams III, Grant Reportedly on Trade Block After Jrue Holiday Deal
The Portland Trail Blazers made a splash by acquiring veteran point guard Jrue Holiday from the Boston Celtics, and it sounds like they're not done making moves.
According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, the Blazers will "now [turn] their attention to the possibility of making further moves, with Deandre Ayton, Robert Williams III, and Jerami Grant on the trade block, sources said."
The Blazers shipped away combo guard Anfernee Simons and second-round picks in 2030 and 2031 to acquire Holiday, who spent the last two years with the Celtics. Portland had briefly acquired Holiday in the trade that sent star point guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks prior to the 2023 season before re-routing him to Boston. The team surprisingly decided to bring him back on a more permanent basis to provide a veteran presence for a young group.

The Blazers showed signs that they're near the end of their rebuild with a promising 36-46 finish to the 2024-25 season, a 15-win improvement from the previous year. However, the trio of frontcourt players who are reportedly on the trading block could help them further improve their roster as they try to contend for a playoff spot next year.
Ayton is likely the most attractive name of the group, as the 2018 No. 1 pick never reached his full potential but at times showed signs of being a productive big man. Grant and Williams are savvy veterans who can be defensive anchors, but both of them played under 50 games last season.
Acquiring Holiday is a step in the right direction for the Blazers, as his leadership could pay dividends for young guards Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson. Still, Portland has more work to do if it wants to emerge from the pack in the competitive Western Conference next year.
