Lakers, Warriors, More Reportedly Linked to Kristaps Porzingis Amid NBA Trade Rumors

Joseph ZuckerJun 24, 2025

A list of potential suitors for Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porziņģis has already emerged with the franchise with the team exploring new trade avenues.

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported Tuesday that "10-12 teams that have been in contact with the Celtics on Porziņģis and others." That group includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors.

Jayson Tatum's Achilles injury has forced the Celtics to reconsider their short-term priorities.

With Tatum and Jaylen Brown combining to make more than $120 million starting in 2027-28, difficult choices with the roster were inevitable. Now that Tatum is likely to miss most or all of next season, the front office may waste little time before it reshuffles the squad.

ESPN's Shams Charania already reported the Celtics agreed to trade guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for guard Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN followed up Tuesday on Get Up to say Porziņģis is "definitely" the subject of trade discussions.

Along with the teams mentioned by Siegel, NBA insider Jake Fischer cited the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs as possible landing spots.

Porziņģis will turn 30 in August and is entering the final year of his contract.

From Boston's perspective, the idea of extending the 2017-18 All-Star is less enticing when he was limited to 42 games this past season. The same goes for letting him play out his current deal if the team is unlikely to mount a serious challenge at a title.

Because of his injury history and the fact everyone knows the dilemma staring the Celtics in the face, Porziņģis trade value may not be all that high. In that respect, other contenders may sense an opportunity.

The Warriors don't have a lot of assets at their disposal, while the Lakers want to save their best pieces for a bigger blockbuster if that's the path they're going to try. Either may see Porziņģis as an impactful contributor at a reasonable cost.
