VJ Edgecombe Joining Embiid, George, Maxey Thrills 76ers Fans During 2025 NBA Draft
V.J. Edgecombe is headed to Philadelphia
The Philadelphia 76ers selected Edgecombe with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Edgecombe spent the 2024-25 season at Baylor where he averaged 15 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 33 games. He was named All-Big-12 and was the 2024-25 Big-12 Rookie of the Year while leading the Bears to a 20-15 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament.
He possesses a 6-foot-5, 180-pound frame and could translate as a combo guard that brings offensive and defensive strengths to the table.
Fans quickly took to social media to project Edgecombe's potential at the next level.
Edgecombe joins a 76ers team that entered the 2024-25 season with significant hype and underachieved immensely.
Philadelphia signed forward Paul George in 2024 NBA Free Agency and were coming off seven straight playoff appearances. The 76ers then proceeded to go 24-58 which landed them this top pick.
Edgecombe is the reward for the lost season and the team will hope he can be a complement to Tyrese Maxey, George and Joel Embiid as the 76ers look to return to contention in the Eastern Conference.
