2025 NBA Draft Scouting Report for Brooklyn Nets No. 19 Pick Nolan Traore

B/R NBA StaffJun 25, 2025

The Brooklyn Nets have selected Nolan Traore with the No. 19 pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Traore, a 19-year-old prospect from France, was named FIBA Champions League Best Young Player in 2025, emerging as one of Europe's top teenage prospects while competing against professional talent.

A skilled lead guard with natural feel, he's comfortable running an offense, getting teammates involved, and he plays with poise in both open-floor and pick-and-roll settings.

Though not an explosive athlete, Traore showed growth finishing inside and consistently made smart decisions throughout this past season.

His main concerns center on shooting and defense. His jumper is a work in progress, and his limited size and quickness could be challenges at the professional level.

Early backup reps should help gauge whether he can eventually evolve into a larger role. His court vision, control and experience against pros give him a strong developmental base.

Traore is ranked No. 17 on B/R NBA draft expert Jonathan Wasserman's 2025 Prospect Big Board.

Essential Facts and Stats

Realistic Pro Comparison: Lonzo Ball

1 of 3
Boston Celtics v Chicago Bulls

Traore reminds of Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball with his outstanding passing IQ and, honestly, his lack of burst inside the arc.

Like Ball, Traore has to improve his shooting, but he made some promising strides this year.

Traore entered the draft with the highest assist percentage among B/R's projected first-round prospects.

Strengths

2 of 3
2024 Nike Hoop Summit

Playmaking IQ: The primary draw to Traore is his feel for running offense and setting up teammates. He can be an assist machine with how comfortable he is in ball-screen situations or making the simple reads to find play-finishers or shooters in rhythm.

Transition Offense: Though not known for athleticism, he is fast with the ball and under control in transition. He was very efficient initiating and finishing fast breaks.

Finishing: Traore improved his finishing as the season progressed. He's capable of making the right adjustments with his body and the layups needed to compensate for a lack of explosion.

Weakness

3 of 3
2024 Nike Hoop Summit

Pull-Up Shooting: Traore shot the three-ball better over the second half of the season, but he's struggled historically to consistently make jumpers. He shot a worse percentage on two-point jumpers than three-pointers.

Defensive Projection: At just 175 pounds and without athletic-recovery ability, he could be exposed against some of the NBA's explosive ball-handlers.

Versatility: Traore has a decent catch-and-shoot game, but not enough to carry him in an off-ball role. He graded poorly in spot-up situations, meaning his team will really need to trust him with the ball.
