RJ Barrett's Trade Market Reportedly Continues to Be Gauged by Raptors
Toronto Raptors forward R.J. Barrett could be on the move this summer.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Raptors are looking at the market for RJ Barrett via a trade as they look to restructure the roster.
"Toronto has also continued to gauge the trade market on RJ Barrett," league sources Scotto. "Barrett, who’s owed $57.32 million over the next two seasons, averaged a career-high 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game."
Barrett just finished his sixth NBA season and was acquired by the Raptors during the 2023-24 season in a move that sent OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks. He can hit free agency after 2026-27.
Toronto went 30-52 in 2024-25 and missed the postseason for the third consecutive season. Barrett was the team's leading scorer and is notably a Toronto native.
While the team could look to build a core around Barrett, the Raptors also could capitalize on his value and send him to a team that is closer to contention. Toronto currently has $7.7 million in first-apron space and holds the ninth pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
