Lakers' LeBron James Reveals Advice to Sons Bronny, Bryce in Group Chat in Video
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James revealed the advice that he gave to his sons, Bronny and Bryce, as part of a group chat between all three family members in 2024.
"And my message was to them, 'Everybody's road to success is different, so stay locked in and patient.' That was my message to my boys last year," James said on the Mind the Game podcast.
Bronny wrapped up his rookie year on the Lakers during the 2024-25 season, while Bryce is preparing to play basketball as a freshman at Arizona.
LeBron also brought up Boston Celtics guard Derrick White's journey to the NBA in the group chat with his sons.
White didn't receive any Division I scholarship offers in high school and ended up playing three years of college basketball in Division II for Colorado–Colorado Springs before transferring to Colorado ahead of the 2016-17 season.
He eventually blossomed into a first-round draft pick and served as a key starter on a Celtics squad that won a title in 2024.
Bronny played one season at USC before the Lakers selected him with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 draft.
He appeared in 27 games with Los Angeles but spent the bulk of his first season with the team's G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
Bronny performed admirably in the G League, averaging 21.9 points and 5.4 assists to go along with 1.9 steals per game on 44.0/38.0/81.5 shooting splits during the regular season.
As for Bryce, he was rated as the No. 45 guard and No. 26 recruit from the state of California in 247Sports' composite rankings. He received offers from Duquesne and Ohio State before committing to Arizona on Jan. 1.
As the James brothers continue their budding basketball careers, they've continued to receive advice from their father.
