Alex Caruso and Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault have been through it all.

After winning the 2025 NBA Finals, Caruso says he plans to post the now-viral photo of the two from their G League days—alongside a new shot of them as NBA champions.

"I was a lot younger. Immature – more immature then," Caruso said about the photo of them together in the G-League. "I probably wasn't agreeing with whatever he said. It was probably like my 12th game of professional basketball and I didn't know what was going on."

Back in September 2016, Caruso was one of six players trying out for an Exhibit 10 contract with the Oklahoma City Blue, competing for the opportunity for a $50,000 bonus and a roster spot under then-Blue head coach Daigneault.

"He quickly figured out they had no clue what was going on," Daigneault, now fifth-year Thunder's head coach, told ESPN recently. "By midway through the workout, he's coaching the workout. He's doing what he does."

Now, the duo has won a championship and are making history—right where it all began.
