Kevin Durant Congratulates Thunder on Winning 2025 NBA Finals Over Pacers

Kevin Durant congratulated the Oklahoma City Thunder for defeating the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals in a social media post on Sunday.

Durant blossomed into a superstar as a member of the Thunder at the beginning of his career, helping lead the team to a Finals appearance in 2012.

On Sunday, the two-time champion was traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets.

Durant earned seven All-Star nods during his tenure in Oklahoma City, winning four scoring titles and receiving the lone MVP award of his career in 2014.

He averaged 27.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game on 48.3/38.0/88.2 shooting splits as a member of the Thunder. The 36-year-old ranks No. 3 on the organization's all-time scoring list.

Durant's career with Oklahoma City came to an end abruptly, leaving to sign with the Golden State Warriors as a free agent in 2016 after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals during the prior season.

Still, he looked back on his overall time as a member of the Thunder fondly.

"Even though it was rough for me with the fan base and some of the people that worked in the organization for a year or two," Durant said in a Feb. 2024 interview with Boardroom (h/t Clemente Almanza of OKC Thunder Wire). "When I started to reflect on it, it was special what we did -- regardless of championships or not."

As Oklahoma City hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy on Sunday, the team was applauded for the accomplishment by Durant.
