Scott Foster Out, Full List of Refs Revealed for Pacers vs. Thunder NBA Finals Game 7
Scott Foster is not among the referees who received the assignment for Game 7 of the NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The NBA announced the full crew for Sunday's winner-take-all game will be James Capers, Josh Tiven and Sean Wright, with James Williams as the alternate. Foster, who previously worked Game 4, is not part of the crew.
Indiana and Oklahoma City combined to shoot 71 free throws on 53 fouls called in Game 4.
The first three games of the series didn't have more than 45 fouls called.
Despite the high volume of fouls called, it was a fairly even split between the two teams. Oklahoma City had 38 free-throw attempts on 27 fouls drawn. Indiana had 33 free-throw attempts on 26 fouls drawn.
Per the NBA's official last two minute report from the game, referee operations examined 17 plays that were all deemed to be correct calls or correct no-calls.
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle even came to Foster's defense amid criticism of the officiating in Game 4:
"I think it's awful some of the things I've seen about officiating, and Scott Foster in particular. I've known Scott Foster for 30 years. He is a great official. He has done a great job in these playoffs. We've had him a lot of times. The ridiculous scrutiny that is being thrown out there is terrible and unfair and unjust and stupid."
The NBA selects officials for the Finals based on their performance in the first three rounds of the postseason.
Foster is in his 31st season as a referee, having been hired by the league prior to the 1994-95 campaign. He has officiated in the 25 Finals games over the past 18 seasons.
Game 7 between the Pacers and Thunder at Paycom Center will tipoff at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday night.
